86 Day @ Meihan Sportsland
HR fan and avid MX-5 enthusiast Josh Dobrik just dropped us an email with this tasty morsel of AE86 drifting madness. He writes:
“Thought you guys might enjoy this raw clip I made whilst in Japan. One unforgettable day spent at Meihan Sportsland witnessing these deafening AE86 drivers running amok.”
We do. Awesome.
#festivalof86 Supported by Hachiroku.com.au!
On August 10 you can meet the man responsible for creating the car we all love – Toyota 86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada.
Tada-san wants to pass on his personal thanks to everyone who has helped make the car such a massive success.
Toyota is supporting this special 86/AE86 owners event by hosting it at their Sydney HQ, and they’re putting on a sausage sizzle along with A FEW SURPRISES!
Tada-san will be joined on the day by two big Toyota names – four-time national rally champion Neal Bates and national drift champion Beau Yates.
If you are attending #festivalof86 with your AE86/86/BRZ, you need to register your car spot at this website: https://festivalof86.eventbrite.com.au and join the event now on the Hachiroku.com.au Facebook Page.
Only 250 spots available and being taken fast!
86’s and AE86’s are the only cars permitted on the premises. Everyone else will have parking outside the grounds.
New Zealand Style: Auckland GT86 Launch
Keisuke from 86 Fighters got some excellent shots in Auckland for the North Shore Toyota NZ GT86 Launch. Some really nice AE86s live under the long white cloud, and the guys who drive them look like champs. Hit the jump for the gallery.
HACHiRoCK!! FESTA 2012
Thanks to Dino at SPEEDHUNTERS and Zack and Chad from JyuRoku, there was a HEAP of fantastic coverage of this years HACHiRoCK! Festa (Festival) at Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest.
Speedhunters gave us a great story from lenseman Dino Dalle Carbonare and his journey to hachirock, as well as his highlights and a wheel gallery of a selection of AE86s attending the gathering.
JyuRoku went even further with their event highlights, but also with in depth galleries of the AE86 cockpits and engine bays separately AND this awesome video:
After experiencing the greatness of Fuji 86 Style in August, HACHiRoCK and the Okayama AE86 Festival are two events I would love to witness in person! Maybe 2013 eh? Have you ever been on a Japanese AE86 pilgrimage? Show us your photos in the comments!
FR-S, BRZ & AE86 Passion at 86FEST
Antonio (of Cipher Garage fame) gives the rundown of his very first 86FEST event that took place last weekend in California. 1500 cars…. :O

KMS x TSUCHIYA AE86 N2 Racer
As the official N2 race at the 2012 AE86 Festival in Okayama International Circuit is happening today, I thought it might be fun to back back to February when the all-too-familiar group of N2 racers converged on Tsukuba Circuit.
Interestingly, Tsuchiya isn’t driving the KMS-prepped Levin today at Okayama, instead running a different car with the old TRD livery back on the bodywork. The new car is running an engine from Car Factory Ai with a bodykit from Custom Garage Speed and the new RAYS TE37V wheels instead of the traditional RS Watanabe configuration!
2012 results will be in very soon, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy the videos.
Speed? Hunted.
In the middle of the Norwegian summer, Gatebil at Rudskogen sees more than 45000 car enthusiasts from all over Scandinavia, England and even Japan making their way across te world to make this event one of the biggest car festivals in Europe!
Rudskogen is located about 1.5 hours drive south east of Oslo, close to the Swedish border, but that didn’t stop New Zealand’s MadMike Whiddett and Ireland’s Darren McNamara from joining their Norwegian squadmate Fredric Aasbo for the first group smackdown of the Speedhunters super-top-secret drift team.
Hit up the Speedhunters post HERE to see a close up profile of each of the cars and some of the trademark antics of the down-to-earth crew.
The ANNUAL 2011: TAS-Mania! 18 – 22 November
That’s right boys and girls! After much research (and arm twisting) we are going to Tasmania for the HR AE/KE Annual!
Previously we have been to Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne and last year Adelaide, and each time the Toyota fanatics have put on a good show for the outsiders and taken us all to some of Australia’s best driving roads.
So now, we are heading to possibly Australia’s best driving state to see what the Apple Isle has for us!
