086A To Debut @ Tokyo Motorshow
With news that a lot of foreign makers will not be attending this years Tokyo Motor Show, the limelight will definitely be on local makers and what new toys they have to offer. One of the most hotly anticipated and debated JDM vehicles in recent months has been the Toyota Subaru ‘Toyobaru’ FR Sports coupe and things are now looking to get a whole lot more exciting at TMS with Toyota staff leaking news that the coupe will go on show this October!
086A Toyota to Debut at Tokyo Motor Show
Rumored as the successor to the AE86, Toyota has been aiming to introduce a cheap entry level sports car to their line up and bring sports car fun back to the masses. It seems though that keeping the price down has been a bit of a difficult job and staff close to the project say that the original two million yen mark might be difficult to achieve. New estimates have been set and the the final price will creep close to the two and a half million mark. With Tokyo Motor Show just three months away this is very exciting news for JDM fans and we will be waiting to see what Toyota and other makers bring to the table come Ocotober.

Stick-Up Kids
The characters read “ハチロク魂” or “hachiroku damashii”, which means “the soul of hachiroku”. Thanks Alexi. Do any of you guys have a prized possession sticker? i can remember being pretty proud of my J-blood stickers that came with my carbon hood all those years ago. Hit up the comments and share!
Forza Virtual ’86 Club
The allure of the ’86 runs deep for a lot of us – even those who don’t own physical AE86s of their own!!
The Forza Motorsport forums (for the XBOX360 game of the same name) have a dedicated tribe of users who meet up ‘in-game’ in their customised hachi rokus to compare mods, talk shop and race their creations – not all that much different to us ‘real lifers’ i guess?
If you’re a HR follower and want to get in on the action check out their official thread and while you’re at it leave your gamer id in our blog comments and get some HR friends to join in with you!
New Wallpapers Up!
It’s been way too long since our last set of wallpapers but today we return with Goto-san’s missle hachiroku’s engine bay in all its rippled and rusty glory and Kazuya from Himawari Racing in his hot pink kouki Trueno coupe in the pits and in action on the track. All pictures courtesy of Alexi at Noriyaro, of course.

“I Saw The Toyota 086A”
Mr Karow has again more new on the 086A, this time pretty solid info from a Toyota insider who he says has “been sitting on this information for quite some time”. Justin writes:
The insider claims he has seen the 086A and is adamant that only one body style will be offered and that body style will differ only very slightly between the Toyota and Subaru versions, such as the front grille, head/tail light treatment and badges.
This isn’t the whole story though, so head on over to 7TUNE to read the rest of the awesome news!
Hachiroku Heartbreak
Over in Japan, Justin from 7TUNE has found yet another story of heartbreak and remorse for us AE86 owners.
I finally went back to my old neighborhood in Settsu-Motoyama in Kobe and sure enough, the old “abandoned” AE86 Toyota Sprinter Trueno was still there, only now in a different position! Yep, it’s the same car I saw behind my apartment way back in late 2003.
So head over to 7TUNE and catch the rest!
Ghetto!
Total ghetto spec. The car is so messy it’s a testment to the driver to keep it on the road! I’m simply gobsmacked….
Oh, and Happy AE86 Day! (for those of us in non-american dated countries that is…)
A Novel Use
Evidently in Japan, Hayashi ‘Street Fins’ are not as rare as they are in the rest of the world! On the other hand, why is this Japanese lass watering the gutter? Who knows, but it’s another fantastic piece of the ’86 lifestyle captured by the boys @ 86ers! If you’re not checking them out every day, you should be!
HotVersion N2 Wallpaper
Just a quick one today. I saw this wallpaper of the TRD N2 racer over at BestMotoring website and thought to myself “Hey, I’m sure those ’86 mania friends of mine would like this!” and so here we are. Enjoy!
