AE86Peru x DriftPeru Meet
Our friends over in Peru have been at it again, introducing the world of drifting to their friends and fellow car enthusiasts. Sergio from the ClubAE86 Peru writes of their recent ‘trackday’ that they held in conjunction with the crew from DriftPeru:
There is a shantytown outside Lima – Peru , in a far away city. It’s along the Pacific Ocean and miles from civilization. On a Sunday morning, the AE86Peru club alongside many friends of the Driftperu organization were there, plus some friends that had come from a drift in japan to teach us some techniques.
In total there were we get together around 35 to 40 cars, mostly AE86 but also KP61s, Altezzas and countless assorted Nissans. This is the highest concentration of drift that has taken place in Peru to date! Drifting like this is in its infancy here, people do not have high powered engines or professional racing circuits like in other countries so we managed to have fun our way, looking for places like this to start the drift!
Check out Sergio and his mates over @ ClubAE86 Peru and the pics and video after the jump.
Another Drift Weekend
Two weeks ago was round 5 of the International Drift Series in eastern Germany on location at a small regional airport. Of course, I had to be there and represent for all the Hachi owners/lovers. The track itself was rather small but competition was tough as always.
86 Day @ Nikko
Finally we have the photo coverage from the 86 Day event at Nikko Circuit last week. Alexi @ Noriyaro has put up a mixed bag of the cars that attended the celebrations. I particularly like the black KDS coupe and this lovely white hatch pictured above… so clean.
Check out yesterday’s Part 1 here while you wait for todays part 2, which should be up in no time!
ONESHOT: Asayan’s AE86
It’s a Coffee-inspired, Hayashi Street Finned, curb hopping maniac! Alexi @ Noriyaro has a couple of stories up about this creamy coupe.
This rather neat AE86 belongs to a guy who goes by the nickname “Asayan”. Asayan works at a body shop in Osaka called “Looking”, who are well known for their extremely stylish paintjobs. Not only that, Looking are obsessed with drifting as well, and run several “HitomiGo” events a year at Meihan Circuit, named after Hitomi, the other half of Looking.
So check out the statics (when it’s not hanging five @ Maze Circuit) and motion shots (when it is) over at Noriyaro!
Hard F**kin’ Core
Again we have Mr Alvendia doing what he does best: shooting AE86s! This time a killer action shot of some dirt turbo at the Ziptied All Star Bash. Antonio writes:
I just found out that Orange County based AE86er Luke Pakula is originally from Chicago – in fact, while we were all catching up and getting our grub on at KBBQ in Koreatown, Luke explained that he went to high school with some of the Risky Devil guys. No wonder they were so friendly and happy to see each other at the track, haha! Luke was working on aggressively conquering the top of the fishbowl on the back section of Streets, but at one point, he slipped off the pavement, with his rear wheels kicking up tons of dirt! Looked dope though!
I can’t argue there. A sick hachiroku and a super agressive angle shot too. Lets hope Antonio reads this and gives us the wallpaper version!

DeadPirate x Tommy Suell’s AE86
Just a quick video from me today. Apologies for the late posting, had far too much fun on the slopes this weekend on my snowboard and completely KO’d before I could write up a blog. Enjoy this tasty morsel of drift action from DeadPirateProductions for now, and we are back to normal programming tomorrow!
Goto-San In Action
Okay, we all saw pictures of Goto-san’s insane boro AE86 by Alexi Smith at Nori Yaro and we all saw videos of him drifting near the sidewall on several drift events and circuits but what you probably didn’t see yet (unless you read this article at 7tune.com) is what it looks like to sit next to him!
Drift Attack @ Taupo
Keisuke is at it again with another drift event in the land of the long white cloud.
This Event was the well known Driftopia Expression days held to cover everyone who wants to attend a track and drift, wether it be a complete beginner to top D1NZ drivers.
NZ is really coming into it’s prime within the global drifting fraternity. Check out the pretty sharp set of photos in the gallery over @ 86 Fighters blog.
Hot Hot Heat @ FormulaD Vegas
Long time die-hard AE86 addict and friend of HR Blog, Antonio Alvendia is again behind the lens, this time shooting the USA’s latest drifting events. From the latest round of FormulaD last weekend he brings us this tasty morsel of hachiroku lovin’.
Back on the grid, Vegas native Tommy Suell had to cool his SR-powered AE86 down quickly in between tandem drifting runs with Apex’i driver Ryuji Miki. We’re not sure if everyone realizes it, but Tommy’s AE86 is actually right hand drive. Tommy grew up in Japan and can speak fluent Japanese. Hopefully he is comfortable enough to cuss Miki out in Japanese for beating him in tandem! Props to Tommy and his crew for all their hard work! Notice the Vegas number on Tommy’s door? 777 spin em!
While RHD ’86s are the norm for us here Down Under, it’s a pretty rare thing to see in the ‘States. Check out the rest of the set over @ MotorMavens!
All AE86 Drift Comp
A couple of weeks back, the norcal AE86 guys got together (with the assistance of many, including Drift Social) for a day of fun and drifting. Lots of prizes and what seems flawless organisation the day made it a huge success. This quote from forum member MayanWarrior really tells you what these local AE86 meets are all about:
Me and ma lady, Elysha, will definitely remember this day for the rest of our lives. This really brought back a lot of great 86 culture memories. Everyone is so awesome! I’m so glad the media and popularity of these little slide buckets hasn’t changed the attitude of the Corolla owner at all.
Hell yeah! Check out the event threads here and here and the Picasa album (sorted by car number) here.
