Long White Cloud (Of Tyre Smoke)
Keisuke from 86Fighters blog may be back in New Zealand but that hasn’t stopped his incurable hachiroku mania. He’s been busy getting the skids on at a local grassroots drift day.
In New Zealand, there are a group called S-Club who organize the Joe Manji Events for like minded people who like to Manji! I went with 3 hours sleep, no food or water and forgot my helmet. I wasn’t the most prepared to say the least, but had a very good time none the less! From missiles to “D1-Spec”, there were a variety of cars and talent in attendance – but thats the best part of it!
Head over to his blog and check out the galleries of the day. Gallery 1 & Gallery 2.
Adventures at International Drift Series
It’s been a while but I wanted to finally share some of my past adventures at the International Drift Series (IDS) over the past 2 months here in Europe. So far there have been three runs of the pro class and I will give you a short rundown on whats been going on!
DEATH-PROOF: Goto-san’s AE86
Goto-san is somewhat an enigma in Fuji Speedway’s drifting fraternity. With his distinct body styling and 10/10th’s driving style it’s no wonder a car like this can be so well regarded whilst being so damn rough. Alexi from Noriyaro was recently at Fuji and managed to capture this unique hachiroku in all its gritty realism. He writes:
The only reason this car exists is for the sole purpose of practicing as much as possible, It shows. “The minimum amount of work for the maximum result” is the philosophy behind this car.
Check out Noriyaro for the rest.
Jason Sherring’s 4A-GTE Levin
The boys over at DK (thats Drift Kulture for you who aren’t in the know) have got a feature up on a pretty trick turbo hachiroku.
Having worked for an import company before, Jason has been able to get his hands on a number of unique parts to add to the ’86, which has helped make it the car it is today. A few parts to mention is the 15×8 Work Equipe 01’s and SSR MKIII’s, a GReddy 4A-GE turbo kit with a TD05, as well as DRoop coilovers.
Sound good? Then head over there and read the rest!
More Ebisu Matsuri AE86’s!
Coverage of events are always better when you have an AE86-maniac behind the lens! Keisuke gives us the hachiroku insight into the infamous drift festival!
The Navi took me through some backroads that you would have never thought lead to Ebisu, For a few instances I had my doubts but in the end I got there and I had a smile as big as the moon. For me, the highlight of the event had to be riding in a AE86 from Team Peak on Kita course…
Check out all the pics over at 86 Fighters blog!
Lone Hachiroku @ International Drift Series
It has been a while since I last posted some news from Europe but we have been very busy over the past few weeks. We had a few trackdays in France and Germany (Nordschleife) with some interesting results.
Spring Drift Matsuri AE86’s
Dino over @ SPEEDHUNTERS has got the third and final part of his coverage of the 2009 Ebisu Spring Drift Matsuri and there’s some great AE86 shots in there (especially this one of the twin RunFree Levins – airborne in unison!!) Check it out now! Parts one, two and finally three!
Tasmanian Drifting Devil
Four months of solid work has paid huge dividends for Mark Rogers, who has been building his 3S-GTE powered AE86 in preparation for Saturday’s second round of the Specialised Performance Garage Tasmanian Drift Series. It was the car’s debut event and what a debut it was!
Rockstar Drifter RC
It’s Eric O’Sullivan’s Rockstar Energy Drink sponsored AE86 in micromachine scale! Well not quite, but this RC drifter comes pretty damn close to the real thing. Do any of our readers have drift RC AE86s? Drop us a pic of yours and your name and we will feature a gallery of the best submissions!
Check out the rest of the pics of this yellow bandit here.
