Brothers In Arms: HR Interview Vu & Van Quach
It’s not often that you see two street-driven cars this well presented and tastefully modified. It’s even more uncommon that they originate from the same family garage.
But in this case, where brotherly admiration and excitement for one car has spiraled out of control, you have possibly the two most succinct, and complete pair of hachirokus Australia has seen in years.
Some of you 86 die-hards reading this have choosen to stick with one car and toil away, others are up to the count of ‘several’ chassis of chopping and changing, swapping panels and engines and buying whole projects just for parts and papers.
However, these brothers from Melbourne’s south-east have seen over 10 different AE86s between them since 2002, and have now reached, what they consider, their final ‘masterpiece’ hachiroku builds.
So we thought to ourselves, ‘What inspires dedication this intense? What drives two guys to search endlessly for the perfect AE86?’. So we asked them!
Melbourne HR Swap Meet – Wrap Up
Last month, after much delay, Melbourne finally had its first HR swap meet. The day started off a bit slow with only a few cars turning up but as the afternoon progressed the car park was packed full of AE86s, AE71s and KE70s. Although there weren’t many who brought truckloads of parts to sell, it was good chance to catch up with old friends as well as some new people. Would like to thank everyone that came down and hope to see you at the next HR meet!

HR Victoria Photoshoot Meet
Our first HR Victoria monthly meet of 2009! This month we just planed to have a low key meet which included some beers at one of my favourite cafes called Cafe Garage. Its the only place I know of where you can park your car inside the cafe! Beers flowed and everyone had a blast. Festivities were followed by a photo-shoot at the top of South Melbourne Market with us hoping to catch the skyline of Melbourne as the backdrop. Unfortunately we got there too late and it was to dark to take any good photos, but we did manage to get one decent photo! (Thanks Peter!)
Stay tuned for next months HR Victoria monthly meet which will involve some cruising on one of the twisty roads around Victoria….

HR Victoria Fish & Chips Meet Report
Eleven Sprinters, freezing cold weather and over priced fish & chips pretty much sums up the second Victorian HR monthly meet up, but all was not lost – we still had a day dedicated to our collective AE86’s!
